Enhancing Accessibility: Designing an Inclusive Shopping Experience for the Visually Impaired in Kallithea

Enhancing Accessibility: Designing an Inclusive Shopping Experience for the Visually Impaired in Kallithea 200 165 Enabling Website e-Νable Greece

On May 23, an initial visit was conducted at the Masoutis store in Kallithea, Attica, with the goal of assessing the store’s suitability to incorporate accessibility features for individuals with visual impairments.

The visit was coordinated by Mr. Thanasis Sideris and Ms. Lia Avraam from the Accessibility Support Academy, who are designers and accessibility consultants specializing in visual impairments.

Under their guidance, we will design a tactile-audio map for the store. A second visit to the store will follow to conduct a more detailed survey of the space and analyze the desired points of interest to be included in the tactile-audio map.

This is an exciting approach to accessibility for everyone, introduced by a large-scale retail store that aims to provide autonomy for individuals with visual impairments.

The Kallithea area was selected as it hosts the largest number of visually impaired individuals in the country.

Stay tuned for the next steps! We would love to hear your ideas for creating a more accessible everyday life for everyone.

Presentation of Methodology Application: Accessible Playgrounds

Presentation of Methodology Application: Accessible Playgrounds 200 288 Enabling Website e-Νable Greece

We are excited to present the results of the methodology developed as part of the Solidarity Project “Accessible Playgrounds.”

Our goal is to create accessible playgrounds, particularly for children with visual impairments. By digitally mapping playgrounds, we identified areas that needed adjustments to make these spaces more welcoming and safer for all children.

Our collaboration with AMIMONI and the use of innovative technologies played a crucial role in this effort.
