Leandros Discovers the Magic of 3D-Printed Fairytales! 150 266 Enabling Website e-Νable Greece

Leandros, a sixth-grade student and beneficiary of the Center for Education and Rehabilitation for the Blind in Thessaloniki, is “reading” the images of a 3D-printed fairytale through touch!❗️

We are thrilled that our 3D-printed fairytales bring joy and knowledge to children with visual impairments‼️

This innovative practice has been awarded by the European Network EASPD in Brussels.

Made possible with funding from the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and in collaboration with AMIMONI and the Center for Education and Rehabilitation for the Blind (CEAR).

If you’d like to join this initiative and spread joy and knowledge to our little friends, contact us at [email protected].

Enhancing Accessibility: Designing an Inclusive Shopping Experience for the Visually Impaired in Kallithea

Enhancing Accessibility: Designing an Inclusive Shopping Experience for the Visually Impaired in Kallithea 200 165 Enabling Website e-Νable Greece

On May 23, an initial visit was conducted at the Masoutis store in Kallithea, Attica, with the goal of assessing the store’s suitability to incorporate accessibility features for individuals with visual impairments.

The visit was coordinated by Mr. Thanasis Sideris and Ms. Lia Avraam from the Accessibility Support Academy, who are designers and accessibility consultants specializing in visual impairments.

Under their guidance, we will design a tactile-audio map for the store. A second visit to the store will follow to conduct a more detailed survey of the space and analyze the desired points of interest to be included in the tactile-audio map.

This is an exciting approach to accessibility for everyone, introduced by a large-scale retail store that aims to provide autonomy for individuals with visual impairments.

The Kallithea area was selected as it hosts the largest number of visually impaired individuals in the country.

Stay tuned for the next steps! We would love to hear your ideas for creating a more accessible everyday life for everyone.
