In the days of quarantine due to the pandemic, our team offered a Webinar through the Social Dynamo platform on the concept of 3D Printing technology and ways to apply it in everyday life.
The aim of the seminar was to help the participants, who were mainly members of organizations working with people with disabilities, to learn how to create assistive devices for their beneficiaries. Devices that could satisfy a specific need and facilitate their daily lives.
The seminar analyzed 3D printing technology, the different techniques applied and the differences between home printers and industrial type regarding the results produced. In addition, the printing materials, the applications in the various areas of everyday life and the basic parts of a home printer were analyzed. Finally, time was given for discussion, where each participant was able to analyze his expectations from the technology and present his own idea on how a disabled person could benefit from a custom made auxiliary device. Participants were offered in the Social Dynamo e-Learning platform a related video with simple 3D object design instructions so that they could experiment on their ideas and of course we undertook the improvement and printing of any devices designed.
